The KENNAMETAL 4149229 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding production environments. It features a 6.30 mm (0.2480 inch) diameter, a 140-degree point angle for self-centering entry, and a multilayer TiAlN coating that extends tool life under heat and wear. The straight cylindrical shank measures 8 mm in diameter and fits standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 91.00 mm (3.5827 inches) and a 53.00 mm (2.0866-inch) flute length, this drill handles through-hole and blind-hole applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish both matter. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators are the primary users.
This drill is suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It is built to DIN 6537K specification, which governs carbide jobber drills with coolant-through capability. The coolant-through design delivers cutting fluid directly to the tip, making it especially effective in CNC machining centers where high-pressure coolant is available. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderately deep holes, with a maximum drilling depth of 43.00 mm (1.6929 inches).
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with straight-shank toolholders accepting an 8 mm shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous alloys.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel following machine-specific lockout procedures before any chuck or collet work. Verify the spindle bore and toolholder collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Confirm coolant-through supply lines are open and at the correct system pressure before running the drill at full feed and speed. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 43.00 mm without retracting to clear chips.
