The KENNAMETAL 4149168 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6537K standards, it features a 140-degree split point, a multilayer TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance, and an internal coolant-through channel that delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge. The No. 32 wire gauge diameter measures 0.116 inches. The overall length is 2.284 inches (58 mm), with a 2-flute regular spiral configuration optimized for chip evacuation. This drill is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC operators working in production environments.
This drill bit is suited for precision drilling applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The straight cylindrical shank diameter of 0.1575 inches fits standard drill chucks and collet systems. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 22 mm flute length support consistent chip clearance in short to medium-depth holes. It is well suited for CNC machining centers and drill presses operating at controlled feed and speed parameters where surface finish and hole tolerance are critical. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.1575-inch straight cylindrical shank. Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials per DIN 6537K specification.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Engage the coolant-through system before the drill contacts the workpiece to prevent thermal shock to the carbide. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed reduction, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces.
