The KENNAMETAL 4149164 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6537K specification, it features a 140-degree point angle optimized for reduced thrust and self-centering on tough workpieces. The multilayer TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum applications. At 2.80 mm in diameter with an overall length of 58.00 mm (2.2835 inches), this drill is suited for precision work in tight tolerances, holding a diameter tolerance of -0.0006 to 0.0000 inches. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management in deep or interrupted cuts. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual drilling operations.
This drill is a fit for production environments where tool life and hole quality in ferrous and non-ferrous metals are priorities. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 22.00 mm flute length (0.8661 inches) support a maximum drilling depth of 17.00 mm (0.6693 inches). The straight cylindrical shank with a 4 mm shank diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. Typical applications include component drilling in automotive, aerospace, and general metalworking, particularly where stainless steel or cast iron workpieces require consistent, repeatable results.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and high-performance jobber drill for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses accepting straight cylindrical shanks in the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm drill bit size range.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of runout before seating the shank. Verify coolant-through passages are clear before use if internal coolant is applied. Inspect the cutting edges and point geometry before each use to confirm the drill is not chipped or worn beyond serviceable limits.
