The KENNAMETAL 4149152 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Built to DIN 6537K standards, it features a 140-degree point angle with a standard point geometry and a multilayer TiAlN coating that extends tool life under elevated cutting temperatures. The drill measures 2.30 mm in diameter with an overall length of 58.00 mm (2.2835 inches) and a flute length of 18.00 mm (0.7087 inches). Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management during deep-hole operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals are the primary installers and operators of this tooling.
This drill is suited for production drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. It operates in a right-hand cutting direction with a regular spiral flute configuration and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, making it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production cells where consistent hole tolerance and finish are required. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 4 mm (0.3125 inch) diameter seats in standard collet chucks and drill holders commonly used in precision machining operations.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide jobber drill conforming to DIN 6537K, compatible with standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill holders accepting a 4 mm shank diameter across CNC and manual drilling equipment.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Confirm the spindle and tool holder are clean and properly torqued before running; carbide drills are sensitive to runout and should be seated in a precision collet or hydraulic chuck to minimize deflection. Activate coolant-through flow before engaging the cut to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate. Inspect the cutting edges before each use, as solid carbide tips are brittle and should not be used if chipping is visible.
