The KENNAMETAL 4148810 is a screw machine length (stub) carbide drill bit designed for precision hole-making in production and job-shop environments. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer TiAlN coating and a TiN tip, it delivers extended tool life in hard and abrasive materials. The 140-degree split-point geometry reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. At 2.2835 inches overall length with a 0.5118-inch flute length, this stub-length format maximizes rigidity in short-reach drilling applications. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal control in high-cycle or deep-hole scenarios. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and tool-room professionals handling tight-tolerance work will recognize the DIN 6537K specification as a reliable benchmark.
This drill bit is suited for stub-length drilling operations where rigidity and runout control are priorities. The straight cylindrical shank at 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches) diameter seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute design handle chip flow efficiently in through-hole and blind-hole applications. Maximum drilling depth is 10.00 mm (0.3937 inches), making it appropriate for shallow, precision bores in metalworking, tooling, and component manufacturing settings.
Designed as an OEM-compatible stub-length drill bit conforming to DIN 6537K, Series B051A-CPG, for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 4.00 mm straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling handling procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before seating or removing the bit. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond rated parameters, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Verify coolant flow is active before engaging the cut when using the through-coolant feature.
