The KENNAMETAL 4131843 is a straight-flute hand tap designed for cutting M14x2.00 metric coarse internal threads in bottoming applications. Manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it produces clean, accurate threads in cast iron and non-ferrous metals. The bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole where taper or plug taps cannot reach. With four flutes and a 6H class of fit at thread limit D7, the tap delivers consistent dimensional accuracy expected in precision machining and repair work. Overall length is 3.59 inches with a thread length of 1.656 inches.
This tap is suited for manual threading operations in maintenance, repair, and fabrication environments. It is the correct choice when a blind hole must be threaded nearly to its full depth, such as in fixture building, equipment repair, or component rework involving cast iron and non-ferrous workpieces. It is intended for use with a standard tap wrench and cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material.
Rated for use in cast iron and non-ferrous metal workpieces requiring M14x2.00 metric coarse internal threads at a 6H fit tolerance.
This tap is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a standard tap wrench. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material before and during tapping to reduce friction and extend tool life. Ensure the tap is started perpendicular to the workpiece surface to avoid thread misalignment or tap breakage. Remove chips frequently during hand tapping, especially in blind holes, to prevent chip packing and binding.
