The KENNAMETAL 4121698 is a TNMG332RP grade KCU25 solid carbide turning insert designed for high-productivity metal cutting in CNC and manual turning operations. Coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, it delivers heat and wear resistance suited for interrupted and continuous cuts on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch (0.031 inch) corner radius, and a negative rake geometry with chamfered and honed cutting edges. Six cutting edges are available per insert. The RP chip breaker geometry supports stable chip control across a range of depths and feed rates.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers in production and job-shop environments. Primary target materials include carbon and alloy steels (ISO P), stainless steels (ISO M), and superalloys and titanium (ISO S). The KENLOC series insert is held by clamp and pin methods, making it compatible with standard TNMG-style toolholders. It carries ISO code TNMG160408RP and industry standard designation TNMG332RP, and meets both ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Designed for use in TNMG-style clamp-and-pin toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO TNMG332 / TNMG160408 standards. Rated for turning, facing, and boring of steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), and superalloys and titanium (ISO S) workpiece materials. Material grades C2 and C6 apply.
Installation is performed by machinist or toolroom personnel following standard CNC lathe or turning center lockout and toolchange procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all motion is disabled before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage before resuming the cut.
