The KENNAMETAL 4109957 is a carbide threading insert designed for precision thread cutting on both internal and external workpieces. Manufactured to the NTF3R insert style within the Top Notch series, it carries the KCU25 grade designation and an AlTiN finish applied via PVD coating. The insert cuts partial profile 60-degree threads and handles external pitches from 0.60 to 2.50 mm (10 to 44 TPI) and internal pitches from 1.00 to 2.50 mm (9 to 24 TPI). It is a right-hand insert with a corner radius of 0.08 mm (0.0031 inches) and a thickness of 4.95 mm (0.195 inches). Machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production threading applications install this insert.
This insert is suited for threading operations on CNC turning centers and manual lathes where consistent thread form and tool life are required. The Top Notch series is a common platform in production shops for both internal and external threading on a range of materials. The KCU25 grade with AlTiN PVD coating is appropriate for threading ferrous and non-ferrous materials where heat resistance and edge retention are priorities. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and all motion arrested before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate Top Notch clamping screw and torx key per toolholder manufacturer guidelines to secure the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or damage before each insert change.
