The KENNAMETAL 4109625 is a carbide threading insert in the Top Notch series, designed for cutting Acme threads in both internal and external applications. It carries a KCU25 manufacturer grade and features an AlTiN finish applied via a PVD coating process, which enhances wear resistance and tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert is left-hand orientation with an included angle of 29 degrees and cuts at 4 threads per inch (TPI). With a width of cutting tip measuring 0.0874 inches and a corner radius of 0.0050 inches, it is suited for precise, controlled thread form work on Acme-profile threads in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This insert is intended for use in threading operations on lathes and turning centers where Acme thread profiles are required. The left-hand configuration makes it appropriate for applications where conventional right-hand inserts cannot be used due to workpiece geometry or machining direction. It fits toolholders designed for the Top Notch insert style with an NA insert style designation and an insert size of 3. Both internal and external thread-turning operations are supported, making it a versatile choice for job shops and production environments running Acme-threaded components such as lead screws and power screws.
Designed for use in Top Notch series threading toolholders accepting an NA insert style with insert size 3. Refer to KENNAMETAL Top Notch toolholder documentation to confirm holder compatibility before installation.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and serviced by machinists or toolroom technicians on CNC or manual turning equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and securely in the toolholder pocket before resuming cutting operations. Do not exceed the toolholder and machine manufacturer recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and thread form.
