The KENNAMETAL 4071928 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the HPHV platform, this single-end tool features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and four flutes with a variable index configuration and 38-degree medium helix. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The Weldon flat shank and 1/2 inch shank diameter ensure secure tool holding. At 4 inches overall length, this end mill balances rigidity and reach for a wide range of milling operations. It weighs approximately 0.265 pounds.
This end mill is engineered for shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill-mill, and plunging and recessing operations. Its center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, making it well suited for job shops and production machining cells running a variety of part materials. The 0.0200 inch chamfer width at a 45-degree chamfer angle adds a controlled edge break in a single pass, reducing the need for a secondary deburring operation.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the holder to prevent axial pull-out, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material and machine configuration.
