The KENNAMETAL 4059941 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation LNEU1240R03 4 in the KC725M grade. It is a rectangular, single-sided insert with a positive rake geometry and a neutral hand orientation, designed for indexable milling cutters in the LN cutter series. The insert measures 0.5000 inches in length, 0.3750 inches wide, and 0.1575 inches thick, with a 0.0118-inch corner radius. The PVD-applied TiAlN coating provides heat and wear resistance suited to demanding milling cycles. Four cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style extend service intervals and support consistent surface finish on ferrous and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for milling applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. It is suited for use in both production and job-shop environments where these material families are common. The KC725M grade with PVD TiAlN coating is appropriate for finishing to semi-finishing passes and performs well at elevated cutting speeds. It accepts a screw-in holding method and is compatible with LN-series milling cutter bodies. The common chip breaker geometry supports chip control across a range of feed rates.
Designed for use in LN-series indexable milling cutter bodies that accept LNEU-style inserts with a screw-in holding method. Verify cutter body pocket geometry and insert size code 1240 compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or toolroom technicians following the machine tool builder and cutter body manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque on the insert screw. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
