The KENNAMETAL 4053329 is a CDT-style carbide threading insert designed for external and internal thread-turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is ground in a right-hand orientation with a 60-degree included angle, making it suited for unified and metric thread profiles. The insert carries a KCU10 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN finish that supports cutting performance in steels and other ferrous materials. An inscribed circle of 0.1560 inches and a corner radius of 0.0020 inches define the cutting geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers install and index this insert at the toolholder level.
This insert fits threading toolholders sized for CDT-style inserts in machine shop environments handling production threading on lathes and turn-mill centers. The right-hand geometry targets standard 60-degree thread forms including UN and ISO metric profiles. The KCU10 carbide grade with AlTiN PVD coating is formulated for dry or light-coolant threading passes on carbon steel, alloy steel, and similar workpiece materials in both roughing and finishing thread passes. Applications span job shops, production machining cells, and maintenance repair operations requiring consistent thread geometry.
Designed for CDT-style threading toolholders accepting inserts with an inscribed circle of 0.1560 inches and a thickness of 0.05 inches. Verify toolholder pocket specifications against ISO code CDT127005R before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench for the clamping screw to avoid fracturing the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before indexing a new insert edge.
