The KENNAMETAL 4053325 is a CDHH120605L solid carbide turning insert in the KCU10 manufacturer grade, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and wear performance when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The 80-degree diamond shape (CDHH insert style) delivers a strong cutting edge geometry with a positive rake angle and a 15-degree relief angle. With a corner radius of 0.0079 inches and two cutting edges, this left-hand insert is suited for precision turning passes where edge geometry and surface finish consistency are critical. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of five.
This insert is intended for use in screw-on toolholders compatible with the CDHH screw-on series. Primary application is finish and semi-finish turning of steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), and difficult-to-machine superalloys and titanium (ISO S). The KCU10 grade is a PVD-coated carbide formulated for these material groups, making it a practical choice for shops running interrupted cuts or demanding workpiece materials in both production and job-shop environments. The ISO code for this insert is CDHHS4T002L.
Designed for use in CDHH screw-on series toolholders compatible with a 5/32-inch inscribed circle insert. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards. ISO code: CDHHS4T002L. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw hole diameter (0.0840 inches) before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with indexable insert toolholder systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the screw-on clamping screw to avoid stripping the insert pocket or damaging the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
