The KENNAMETAL 4048742 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, this single-end tool features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and extends tool life. The 5-flute geometry combined with a high-helix spiral flute design supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. An AlTiN PVD coating delivers thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting speeds, making this end mill well suited for dry or near-dry machining environments on submicron-grade carbide substrate.
This end mill is intended for CNC machining centers and milling machines used in precision metalworking shops, job shops, and production environments. The 1/2 inch length of cut and 1-1/4 inch reach length allow access into cavities and pockets where standard-length tools cannot reach. The straight cylindrical 1/4 inch shank is compatible with Kennametal HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores and HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores. This tool is appropriate for machinists and CNC programmers working with ferrous and hard workpiece materials in short-to-medium reach setups.
Compatible with Kennametal HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores and HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores. Designed for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials within the UCDE series platform.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool in the hydraulic sleeve to confirm proper engagement before beginning a cut. Consult the machining center manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting cutting parameters for hard or abrasive workpiece materials.
