The KENNAMETAL 4048733 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 3/4-inch diameter with a 0.03-inch corner radius and five flutes, providing a balance of cutting edge strength and chip evacuation. The long-length configuration offers a 1-1/2-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, making it well suited for deeper axial passes. An AlTiN physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating provides oxidation and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. This end mill is ground from submicron carbide grade material, contributing to edge integrity during roughing and finishing operations on hard and abrasive workpieces.
This end mill is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials in both roughing and finishing applications. It belongs to the KENNAMETAL UCDE series, which targets rigorous production environments where tool life and dimensional consistency are critical. The straight cylindrical shank at 3/4 inch diameter allows it to be seated in standard end mill holders or hydraulic tool holders, including HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves with metric bores with inch bores, and HC-HSK Form A holders. Right-hand cutting direction with right-hand flute spiral is standard on this configuration. The single-end design is typical for production CNC machining centers handling ferrous and hard-alloy components.
Compatible with HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores, and HC-HSK Form A toolholders. Designed for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials per KENNAMETAL material codes P, M, K, and H.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is seated to the correct gauge length before tightening the holder. When using hydraulic sleeves, follow the holder manufacturer's clamping torque procedure. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before production cuts, particularly given the long-reach configuration.
