The KENNAMETAL 4048727 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Carrying a 1/2-inch mill diameter and a 1/8-inch (0.1200 inch) corner radius, this single-end tool operates in the UCDE series and is suited for both roughing and finishing operations. The AlTiN PVD coating supports high-temperature cutting environments and extends tool life in abrasive workpiece materials. With five flutes and a high helix style, it maintains good chip evacuation and surface finish across a range of cutting conditions. The Weldon flat shank provides positive retention in standard toolholders.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling applications where corner radius geometry is required to reduce stress concentrations at the base of a cut. It is compatible with EM-CV Form AD and EM IN-HSK Form A toolholding systems as noted by the manufacturer. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and contour milling in ferrous and hard-material workpieces found in aerospace, die-mold, and general metalworking environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop settings are the primary installers of this tooling.
Designed for use with EM-CV Form AD and EM IN-HSK Form A toolholding systems per manufacturer specification. Intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (material codes P, M, K, H).
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the holder and engage the set screw against the flat to prevent axial pullout. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, and confirm that cutting parameters match the material grade and coating specification provided by the manufacturer.
