The KENNAMETAL 4048698 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for precision milling of chamfered edges and corner breaks on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. It measures 0.75 inches in diameter with a 0.875-inch length of cut and features a 0.02-inch chamfer width for consistent, repeatable edge preparation. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in high-speed dry or semi-dry machining environments. With four spiral flutes and a right-hand cutting direction, this tool is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where clean chamfer geometry is required. Machinists and tooling specialists in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing applications install and operate this tool.
This end mill is applied in operations requiring precise corner chamfering or edge-breaking on milled components. The centercutting design allows plunge entry when required. The 0.75-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter for direct collet or end mill holder mounting. It is a single-end tool with a right-hand flute direction, making it compatible with standard right-hand spindle setups on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Typical applications include chamfering bores, pockets, and profiled edges in steel, stainless, and alloy materials where the AlTiN coating provides thermal protection.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems accepting a 0.75-inch shank diameter on right-hand spindle machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended gauge length and torque set screws or collet nuts per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for damage before each use; do not use chipped or worn tooling.
