The KENNAMETAL 4048693 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built to material grade KCPM15, this single-end tool features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 7/8-inch length of cut, and a 3/8-inch shank diameter for a total overall length of 2-1/2 inches. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and hardened materials at elevated speeds. Four right-hand spiral flutes with a 20-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar difficult-to-machine alloys. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, making it a versatile choice for both open and closed pocket operations. Ensure the holder and spindle are clean and free of debris before seating the tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, and confirm spindle RPM and feed rate match the material and coating specifications recommended by the manufacturer. Never exceed the tool's rated depth of cut for the material being machined.
