The KENNAMETAL 4047761 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 0.09-inch corner radius, and four flutes ground with a high helix angle for efficient chip evacuation. The tool is coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous materials at elevated surface speeds. At 3 inches overall length with a 7/8-inch length of cut, this single-end, centercutting tool is built for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
This end mill is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, aligning with ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. The HPHV series designation indicates a high-pitch, high-velocity design optimized for aggressive material removal rates without sacrificing surface finish quality. The 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank is compatible with HC 1/2 through HC 1 1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, making it well-suited for use in hydraulic toolholding systems that demand precise runout control. Extended reach geometry supports reach into deeper pockets or stepped features where standard-length tooling cannot access.
Designed for use with HC 1/2 through HC 1 1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials in CNC milling applications.
Install and torque the toolholder according to the hydraulic chuck manufacturer specifications and verify runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Confirm shank seating depth meets the minimum grip length required by the holder to prevent pullout under load. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, particularly when working with hard or abrasive workpiece materials.
