The KENNAMETAL 4047747 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the HPHV series, designed for demanding metal removal in milling applications. It features a 5/16 inch diameter with a 0.06 inch corner radius, a 4-flute single-end geometry, and a variable helix configuration that reduces chatter and improves surface finish. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, making this tool effective in hard cutting conditions. It is a center-cutting, right-hand flute, right-hand cut tool with extended reach capability. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production machining environments rely on this style of end mill for both roughing and finishing passes on ferrous materials.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials in ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. The 3/4 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth profiling, slotting, and contouring operations on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with hydraulic sleeve holders and ER collet systems as specified by the manufacturer, including HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores and ER single-angle standard collets.
Compatible with HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores, and ER single-angle standard collets. Intended for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials as designated by ISO material codes P, M, K, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for toolholder torque and runout tolerances. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and holderholder clamping force before operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use, particularly when running in hard or interrupted-cut materials.
