The KENNAMETAL 4045418 is a carbide profiling insert in the Top Notch series, designed for turning and profiling operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the NPR508 insert style designation and is manufactured to ISO code KCGX110302R15. The insert features a KCU10 grade with a PVD coating process, a parallelogram shape with a 55-degree included angle, and a negative rake geometry. With a 0.2490-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0080-inch corner radius, it delivers consistent edge geometry suited to precision profiling passes. Right-hand cutting orientation and a screw-in holding method make it straightforward to seat and index. Weighing 0.01 pounds, it is a single-piece packaged insert with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
This insert is intended for profiling and turning applications across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Insert seating and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench and screw driver bit specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw to avoid insert or pocket damage. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating surfaces for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and shop safety guidelines when handling carbide inserts, as edges are sharp and carbide is brittle.
