The KENNAMETAL 4045232 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPMT3252FW and ISO designation CPMT09T308FW, offered in the KCU10 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, an 11-degree relief angle, and a wiper chip breaker geometry designed for finishing operations. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, the insert thickness is 0.1563 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0313 inches. With two cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, this insert is suited for high-efficiency finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium.
This insert is applied in turning, facing, and boring operations across CNC lathes and turning centers. The FW wiper geometry improves surface finish at standard feed rates compared to conventional finishing inserts. Primary workpiece material codes cover P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum and non-ferrous), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hardened materials), making it a versatile choice for job shops and production environments running mixed materials. Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for CPMT3252 and CPMT09T308 pocket geometry. Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate torx or hex key for the insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips before seating to maintain proper insert geometry and prevent pocket damage. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specification for the clamping screw — do not overtighten.
