The KENNAMETAL 4045206 is a solid carbide turning insert designated CCMT3252FW in the ANSI system and CCMT09T308FW under ISO. It carries the KCU10 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating engineered for high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a wiper finishing chip breaker geometry (FW) that promotes superior surface finish at higher feed rates. With a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius, it is suited to light-to-moderate finishing passes. Installation is by screw-on (screw holding method). Two cutting edges are available per insert.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in production or job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys and titanium (S), and cast iron (K), with secondary applicability to non-ferrous (N) and hardened materials (H). The wiper edge design makes it a practical choice when finish-turning requirements are tight and repositioning for a second finishing pass is not desirable. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this tooling.
Designed to seat in CCMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting an ANSI size code 3252 (ISO 09T308) insert. Compatible toolholder bores require a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Multi-use application covers turning, facing, and boring operations. Material grade classifications C3 and C4 apply.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped, the program is paused, and all axis motion is locked out per the machine tool manufacturer lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
