The KENNAMETAL 4045182 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG432MP geometry, designed for metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features an 80-degree trigon shape with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.03125-inch corner radius, and a 0.1875-inch insert thickness. The KCU10 grade uses a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts on difficult materials. With six cutting edges and a negative rake angle, this insert is suited for high-productivity roughing and semi-finishing passes. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is engineered for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The MP chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium to moderate chip loads, helping control chip flow across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. The maximum depth of cut is 0.2278 inches and the insert length is 0.684 inches. It fits KENLOC-style toolholders that accept the WNMG insert style with a clamp and pin holding method. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style improves edge toughness on work-hardening and abrasive workpiece materials.
Designed for use in KENLOC-style toolholders accepting WNMG insert style with clamp and pin holding. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for WNMG432 geometry. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Install and seat the insert in a compatible WNMG KENLOC toolholder using the clamp and pin holding method before mounting the assembly. Ensure the turret or toolpost is indexed and the machine spindle is stopped before changing inserts. Use appropriate torque on the clamp fastener per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new edge to prevent insert rocking or premature edge failure.
