The KENNAMETAL 4041075 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a 1/2 inch diameter with a 0.12 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in high-cycle applications. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited to aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, it fits standard end mill toolholders with a straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank. Machinists and CNC programmers in production shops and job shops install this tool for roughing passes where corner geometry and chip control are priorities.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills in both production and prototype environments. The coarse pitch and high helix configuration make it particularly effective in aluminum and other gummy non-ferrous materials where chip packing is a common failure mode. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry, adding flexibility for ramping or helical interpolation entry moves without a pre-drilled pilot hole. It is part of the KENNAMETAL ABDF series and is used with standard end mill toolholders.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Rated for primary workpiece material classification N (non-ferrous metals) per the KENNAMETAL ABDF series material application designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended gauge line before tightening to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation to match the flute geometry before engaging the cut. Inspect the corner radius for chipping or wear before each setup, as uncoated carbide tools in abrasive materials can show edge wear that is not always visible without magnification.
