The KENNAMETAL 4034807 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the G125GMN geometry in the A4 series, it carries a KCU10 grade designation and an AlTiN finish applied via PVD coating process. The insert delivers a cutting width of 0.1252 inches (3.18 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1339 inches (3.40 mm). Cutting height is 0.1583 inches (4.02 mm) and overall length is 0.7874 inches. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for straight-in plunge grooving. This insert is installed and changed out by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working with turning toolholders in the A4 series system.
This insert is appropriate for grooving applications where tight dimensional tolerances on groove width and depth are required. The GMN chip breaker geometry is suited to general-purpose grooving in a range of workpiece materials consistent with C3 and C4 material grade designations. The effective maximum depth of cut range spans 0.1000 to 0.1500 inches (3.00 to 4.00 mm), making it a practical choice for medium-depth grooving passes on turned components in production and job-shop environments. The multi-use tool classification indicates the insert supports repeat indexing within compatible toolholding systems.
Designed for use with A4 series grooving toolholders compatible with G125 insert size. Catalog number reference: A4G125I03P1GMN. Confirm toolholder bore and clamping method match A4 series specifications before installation.
Grooving inserts of this type are seated and clamped by CNC machinists following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures for the A4 series system. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing any insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or damage before seating the insert. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as carbide grade KCU10 is a hard, brittle material that can fracture under improper clamping or interrupted cuts outside its rated parameters.
