The KENNAMETAL 3867757 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit sized at Letter E (0.2500 inches / 1/4 inches) with a 135-degree standard point angle. Built from solid carbide with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for demanding drilling applications in hard and abrasive materials. The spiral flute geometry with a tapered web configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the through-coolant capability allows direct delivery of cutting fluid to the tip. With a flute-to-diameter ratio of 16xD, this bit is engineered for deep-hole drilling where standard-length tooling cannot reach. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
This extra length drill bit is suited for production and maintenance machining environments requiring deep bore capability in a single pass. The 4.6850-inch flute length and maximum drilling depth of 4.0945 inches make it appropriate for deep-hole work in structural components, mold and die blocks, and tooling fixtures. The straight-cylindrical shank with a diameter of 0.2756 inches seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Right-hand cutting direction follows conventional CNC and manual spindle rotation. It is a Series B271-HPS tool intended for use where solid carbide rigidity is required over high-speed steel alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide extra length drill bit in the KENNAMETAL B271-HPS series, compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.2756-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists using a compatible drill chuck or collet rated for the 0.2756-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely fixtured before tool changes. Through-coolant supply lines should be confirmed active before deep-hole drilling cycles to prevent chip packing and tool breakage. Follow applicable machine tool safety standards and shop SOP for carbide tooling handling, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to chipping if dropped or side-loaded.
