The KENNAMETAL 3854739 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 5/16-inch mill diameter and a 13/16-inch length of cut, this single-end tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 37-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting zone. Manufactured to KENNAMETAL material grade K600 micrograin carbide, it delivers consistent edge integrity across demanding cuts. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating is not required or where re-sharpening is planned. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC mills and manual knee mills alike.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling operations in job shops, production machining environments, and maintenance facilities. Its 5/16-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found on vertical machining centers and CNC routers. The centercutting design allows plunge milling as well as conventional and climb milling passes. The AADE series designation identifies it within KENNAMETAL's standard catalog lineup for solid carbide square end mills. It is appropriate for use in materials where an uncoated micrograin carbide edge provides sufficient wear resistance without the added cost of PVD or CVD coatings.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in the KENNAMETAL AADE series, compatible with standard 5/16-inch ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems that accept a 5/16-inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle and machine are at a complete stop before loading or unloading the end mill. Verify shank seating depth and collet condition before beginning a cut, as improper clamping leads to premature tool failure or workpiece damage. Observe applicable shop safety standards and machine guarding requirements during setup and operation.
