The KENNAMETAL 3787483 is a solid carbide turning insert in the KENDEX series, designed for high-performance metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI insert code RPGV45 and ISO code RPGV120700, this round-profile insert features an AlTiN PVD coating that delivers high wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert carries a KCS10 manufacturer grade and an MP chip breaker geometry optimized for roughing and medium machining operations. With a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, a 0.3125-inch thickness, and a 0.2500-inch corner radius, it is suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications. Installation is via screw-holding method.
This insert is engineered for machining stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, steel, cast iron, and aluminum. Its positive rake angle of 12 degrees and positive side clearance reduce cutting forces and improve chip flow, making it a practical choice for medium to high-feed turning passes on difficult-to-machine materials. The full-radius round shape provides four usable cutting edges per insert, lowering cost per edge in production environments. Machinists and toolroom professionals in aerospace, energy, and general manufacturing will find this insert a direct fit in RPGV-compatible toolholders.
Designed for use in RPGV-style screw-lock toolholders accepting a size 45 ANSI or RPGV120700 ISO round insert. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring.
This insert is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a torx or hex key to seat the clamp screw in a compatible RPGV toolholder. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before installing a new insert, as debris under the insert can cause breakage or poor dimensional results. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping cutting edges.
