The KENNAMETAL 3769466 is a VBMT3305FP geometry carbide turning insert in the KCU25 grade, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, the insert delivers moderate wear resistance and toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. The 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a sharp, positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge for clean surface finishes. With a 0.0079-inch corner radius and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches, this insert is optimized for light finishing passes rather than heavy roughing. It is installed using a screw-on holding method and carries a neutral hand orientation, making it adaptable to a variety of toolholder configurations used by professional machinists and tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for finishing applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Primary target workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and superalloys and titanium, with secondary suitability for cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following standard CNC lathe lockout and toolholder change procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the screw-on fastener to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure. Index or replace the insert when surface finish quality or dimensional accuracy degrades, and do not continue cutting on a visibly chipped or worn edge.
