The KENNAMETAL 3769465 is a VBMT222FP grade KCU25 solid carbide turning insert coated with AlTiN via a PVD process. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a 5-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, the corner radius is 0.03125 inches, and the insert length is 0.8718 inches with a thickness of 0.125 inches. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this insert on lathes, boring bars, and facing applications where tight tolerances and surface finish are priorities.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and superalloys including titanium. The KCU25 grade delivers moderate wear resistance and toughness across these material categories, making it a versatile choice for general finishing work on CNC turning centers and manual lathes in both job-shop and production environments. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of standard toolholders.
Designed as a screw-on replacement insert conforming to ANSI insert code VBMT222 and ISO insert code VBMT110308. Compatible with standard VBMT-style toolholders accepting a 0.25-inch inscribed circle insert with a screw-on holding method.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered off and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure to avoid cracking the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Always verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction relative to feed direction before resuming cuts.
