The KENNAMETAL 3769409 is a carbide turning insert with an ANSI insert code of WPMT2151FP and ISO code WPMT110204. It carries a KC5010 grade designation and features a physical vapor deposition (PVD) AlTiN coating for high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert is trigon-shaped with an 80-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and an 11-degree relief angle. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations. The cutting edge is honed, and the insert hand is neutral, making it usable across a variety of tool holder orientations. It weighs approximately 0.1 pounds per piece.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other materials consistent with ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. The KC5010 grade targets high to moderate wear resistance with retained toughness, making it appropriate for finishing passes where surface quality and dimensional accuracy are priorities. It fits screw-on style tool holders designed for WPMT-style inserts. Typical applications include CNC lathe work in production machining environments where consistent finishing results are required across varying material types.
Designed for use in screw-on style tool holders accepting WPMT2151 (ANSI) or WPMT110204 (ISO) inserts. Compatible with holders specifying an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches, insert thickness of 0.0938 inches, and a clearance code of P. Multi-use application includes turning, facing, and boring.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before torquing the clamping screw; use the tool manufacturer's recommended torque driver to avoid cracking the insert or stripping the screw. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
