The KENNAMETAL 3769359 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI insert code DCMT3251FP and ISO designation DCMT11T304, with a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and a screw-on holding method. The insert is PVD-coated with AlTiN for high wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 1/64 inch corner radius (0.0156 inches), and a positive rake geometry, it is optimized for light, high-precision cuts. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments install this insert in compatible screw-on toolholders.
This insert is suited for finishing passes in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. It performs across multiple material categories including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hardened materials (H). The KCS10 grade is engineered to deliver high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it a practical choice for demanding finishing work on difficult-to-machine alloys and stainless steel. The FP chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation at finishing parameters.
Designed for use in screw-on style DCMT toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for DCMT3251 and DCMT11T304 insert seats. Compatible across turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Material compatibility codes: P, M, K, N, S, H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and clamp screw to seat the insert; do not use standard hex keys at uncontrolled torque, as over-tightening can fracture the carbide. Inspect the pocket seat and clamp screw threads for wear or contamination before installing a fresh insert to ensure proper seating and accurate tool-nose position.
