The KENNAMETAL 3769358 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT32505FP KCS10 configuration, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating that delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge for consistent, repeatable performance in finishing operations. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.050 inches and a corner radius of 0.008 inches, it is suited for light, high-precision passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
This insert is applied in external turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel and superalloys, with additional suitability for steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, producing controlled chip flow at tighter depths of cut. The screw-on holding method ensures secure seating in compatible DCMT-style toolholders. This insert is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting an ANSI insert code of DCMT32505 and ISO insert code DCMT11T302. Compatible with toolholders specifying a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 5/32-inch insert thickness, and C-style clearance. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out condition before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — consult the toolholder documentation for this value. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and accurate tool geometry. Handle carbide inserts with care; edges are brittle and can chip if dropped or impacted.
