The KENNAMETAL 3769350 is a CPMT2151FP solid carbide turning insert in grade KCS10, coated with AlTiN via a PVD process. Designed for finishing operations, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a honed cutting edge. It carries a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and an insert thickness of 3/32 inch. With two cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, it is suited for high-wear-resistance applications across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is built for turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The KCS10 grade is optimized for steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hardened materials (H). The FP chip breaker geometry targets finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities. It is appropriate for both light and moderate cutting depths up to 0.0845 inch. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for a wide range of tool holder configurations used in production and job-shop environments.
Conforms to ANSI insert code CPMT2151 and ISO insert code CPMT060204. Compatible with screw-on style toolholders accepting CPMT-style inserts with a 2.80 mm (0.1102 inch) hole diameter. Rated for workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. Material grade classification C3 and C4.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder pocket is clean and free of debris before seating the insert. Secure the insert with the appropriate torque driver per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications — do not over-torque the screw, as this can fracture the carbide body. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
