The KENNAMETAL 3769038 is a VBMT331FP solid carbide turning insert with KCP10 grade designation and a multilayer MTCVD-applied TiCN plus Al2O3 CVD coating. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a positive side clearance, making it well-suited for finishing operations. The insert carries an FP chip breaker geometry, a honed cutting edge style, and provides two usable cutting edges per insert. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches, it is designed for light-depth finishing passes in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. Licensed machinists and CNC turning professionals are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for use on steel and cast iron workpieces as the primary application, with the KCP10 grade offering high wear resistance on steel (P) materials and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous (N) materials. It is suitable for both ANSI and ISO tooling systems, carrying ANSI insert code VBMT331 and ISO insert code VBMT160404. The screw-on holding method makes it compatible with standard VBMT-style screw-on insert pockets. Typical applications include finish turning of steel components, cast iron parts, and non-ferrous workpieces where tight tolerances and surface finish are priorities.
Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-on insert pockets conforming to ANSI insert code VBMT331 and ISO insert code VBMT160404. Suitable for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpieces.
Installation is performed by machining professionals on CNC or manual turning centers. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified for the insert screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines, and never overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
