The KENNAMETAL 3763185 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-productivity face and peripheral milling of cast iron workpieces. Identified by ISO code HNPJ0905ANSNHD and ANSI code HNPJ535ANSNHD, this hexagon-shaped, double-sided insert carries a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 under the KCK15 manufacturer grade. With 12 cutting edges per insert and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers a strong return per insert in production milling environments. The 0.2150-inch thickness and 0.6250-inch inscribed circle diameter position it for medium to heavy material removal. It is installed and indexed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians working on production machine tools.
This insert is intended for cast iron machining applications, including gray iron, ductile iron, and compacted graphite iron encountered in automotive and general industrial manufacturing. The HD chip breaker geometry, chamfered and honed cutting edge style, and negative rake angle at 15 degrees suit interrupted and continuous cuts typical in cast iron face milling. The insert is held in place by screw clamping and is compatible with the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO insert standards, making it interchangeable in toolholders designed for HNPJ-series geometry.
Designed for use in the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for HNPJ-series inserts (ANSI: HNPJ535ANSNHD, ISO: HNPJ0905ANSNHD). Verify toolholder seat geometry and screw size before indexing.
Installation and indexing are performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
