The KENNAMETAL 3761046 is a DNMG432UP turning insert in grade KCM25, designed for indexable toolholders used in CNC turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering a balance of toughness and wear resistance suited for interrupted and continuous cuts. It measures 15.5 mm (0.621 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.031-inch corner radius. The 55-degree diamond (D-style) geometry with negative rake and negative side clearance makes it well suited for roughing and medium machining passes on steel and stainless steel.
This insert is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, and S. The UP chip breaker geometry targets roughing and medium machining applications where chip control and edge toughness are priorities. It is a neutral-hand, four-edge insert compatible with KENLOC-series clamp-and-pin style toolholders. Typical users include CNC machinists and tool-and-die shops running production turning operations on ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloy workpieces.
Designed for use with KENLOC-series indexable turning toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts with clamp or pin retention. Conforms to ANSI insert code DNMG432 and ISO insert code DNMG150408.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and energy isolated per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw or pin to ensure proper seating and runout control. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before indexing to a fresh cutting edge. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamp screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert body.
