The KENNAMETAL 3761029 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMG544RP geometry, finished with a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3. It carries the KCM25 manufacturer grade, which is engineered for high toughness on steel and moderate wear-resistance and toughness on stainless steel. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a negative rake angle, a neutral hand, and six usable cutting edges. With a 5/8 inch inscribed circle, 1/4 inch thickness, and 1/16 inch corner radius, it fits standard KENLOC-style clamp and pin toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this insert for roughing and medium machining operations.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. The RP chip breaker geometry is designed for roughing to medium machining passes where chip control and edge toughness are the primary concerns. It conforms to both ANSI insert code TNMG544 and ISO insert code TNMG270616, making it interchangeable with toolholders designed to either standard. The KCM25 grade targets P-class and M-class workpiece materials and carries a secondary rating for S-class superalloy and titanium applications.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series clamp and pin toolholders accepting TNMG-style inserts with a 5/8 inch inscribed circle and 1/4 inch insert thickness. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel, stainless steel, and superalloy and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured in the turret before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamp or locking pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before installing a fresh edge to ensure proper seating and runout.
