The KENNAMETAL 3760440 is a CNMG644RP KCM35 grade carbide turning insert designed for external turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating system consisting of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, applied via MTCVD process to deliver a combination of wear resistance and toughness suited to roughing and medium machining. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry. The KCM35 grade is characterized by high toughness on steel (P) and moderate wear resistance with toughness on stainless steel (M). With four usable cutting edges and a chamfered, honed edge preparation, the insert is a practical multi-use option for KENLOC-series toolholders.
This insert fits applications in general-purpose turning on CNC lathes and machining centers where steel and stainless steel are the primary workpiece materials. The RP chip breaker geometry is engineered for roughing through medium machining passes. The neutral hand design allows use in both right- and left-hand configurations. Machinists working with superalloys and titanium can apply this insert within its rated depth-of-cut parameters. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of five pieces, making it suitable for shop stocking and toolcrib replenishment.

Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification when tightening clamp screws. Confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing inserts.
