Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3760320 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the industry designation CCMT3251MF in the KCM25 grade. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering a balance of high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The insert measures 9.67 mm (0.3808 inches) in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 5/32-inch thickness, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and positive rake geometry make it well suited for finishing and medium machining operations. It is held by a screw-on method and has two usable cutting edges per insert.

This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. Primary workpiece material codes are P and M, with secondary application in S-category materials. The MF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and medium machining passes where controlled chip evacuation and surface finish are priorities. It is appropriate for both production turning centers and manual lathes in job shop, aerospace, and general metalworking environments. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers familiar with ISO and ANSI insert coding systems will recognize this as a standard screw-on CCMT geometry insert.

Key Features

  • KCM25 grade with multilayer CVD TiN/TiCN/Al2O3 coating for toughness on steel and wear resistance on stainless steel
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape (C) with positive rake and positive side clearance
  • MF chip breaker optimized for finishing and medium machining cuts
  • Maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.050 inches)
  • Two cutting edges per insert; neutral hand allows flexible toolholder mounting
  • Meets ANSI and ISO standards; ANSI code CCMT3251, ISO code CCMT09T304

Compatibility

Designed as a screw-on CCMT-style turning insert compatible with toolholders accepting CCMT3251 (ANSI) or CCMT09T304 (ISO) geometry inserts. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torque screwdriver for the insert screw to avoid stripping the pocket or fracturing the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris or damage each time the insert is indexed or replaced.
