The KENNAMETAL 3760286 is a round solid carbide turning insert in ANSI grade RCMT43, designed for general-purpose metal removal on steel and stainless steel components. It carries a multilayer CVD coating consisting of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, which provides high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel and superalloys. The insert features a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.25 inch corner radius, and a 0.1875 inch thickness. The screw-on holding method keeps the insert firmly seated during interrupted or continuous cuts. With four usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert delivers consistent performance across turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. Its round shape (Insert Shape Code R) and neutral hand orientation make it adaptable to a wide range of tool holders. The medium chip breaker geometry handles moderate machining passes effectively. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). Machinists and CNC operators working on P-group and M-group materials will find this insert a practical choice for medium-duty stock removal where toughness is the priority.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on turning insert for tool holders accepting RCMT43 round inserts per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the tool holder manufacturer's specified method — avoid over-torquing the screw, which can crack carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
