The KENNAMETAL 3760273 is a CNMG432RP indexable turning insert in grade KCM35, designed for steel and stainless steel turning, facing, and boring operations. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied by MTCVD process, delivering a balance of toughness and wear resistance suited to roughing and medium machining passes. The insert body is solid carbide with an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a negative rake, and a neutral hand. With 4 cutting edges and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods, the 3760273 fits standard KENLOC toolholders and is engineered for production-level metal removal rates on steel and stainless steel components.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring of steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium-based materials (workpiece material codes P and M). The RP chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing through medium machining depths, making this insert well-suited to high-stock-removal operations in both production and job-shop environments. A chamfered and honed cutting edge style adds edge stability under interrupted or variable-depth cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC turning center operators in metalworking shops are the primary installers of this insert type.
Conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO insert code CNMG120408. Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders that accept CNMG-style inserts with clamp or pin retention. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and the toolholder fully secured in the turret before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified for the KENLOC toolholder to seat the insert correctly - do not overtighten by hand estimation alone. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before each index to maintain accurate tool geometry.
