The KENNAMETAL 3758783 is a CNMG431FP indexable turning insert in the KCM15 grade, designed for high-productivity metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a multilayer MTCVD TiCN and Al2O3 coating applied over a solid carbide substrate, delivering thermal resistance and wear protection across demanding applications. It carries a negative rake angle of 15 degrees, a honed cutting edge, and an FP chip breaker geometry. With 4 usable cutting edges and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods, this insert is suited for production turning environments where consistent tool life and predictable performance are required.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It fits the KENLOC toolholding system and is appropriate for use in both roughing and semi-finishing passes where moderate depth of cut and controlled chip formation are priorities. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), making it well suited for medium-material-removal scenarios. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool crib technicians working in job shop or production environments will recognize this as a standard CNMG format insert.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement and production insert for KENLOC-series toolholders accepting CNMG-style inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Compatible with toolholders specified for CNMG431 insert geometry per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamp surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw torque as specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not use the insert manufacturer torque values from memory, as they vary by holder. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
