The KENNAMETAL 3758089 is a CCMT3252LF turning insert in grade KCM25, designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual turning operations. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during cutting. The diamond 80-degree included angle and positive rake geometry deliver efficient chip control across a range of workpiece materials. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 9.67 mm (0.3808 inches), this insert fits standard CCMT screw-on toolholders and suits applications where consistent edge life is a priority.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The LF chip breaker geometry is suited for light to moderate cutting depths, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0500 inches). It is a neutral-hand insert, making it usable in both right-hand and left-hand toolholders. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users. Applications span general turning on lathes and turning centers where controlled chip formation on difficult-to-machine materials is required.
Designed for use in standard CCMT screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO insert pocket specifications for the CCMT3252 insert size. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S) workpiece materials per ISO material classification codes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolsetter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to toolholder manufacturer specifications - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper edge indexing.
