Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3758087 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert with a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a positive rake angle of 5 degrees. The LF chip breaker geometry is designed for light finishing cuts. With a relief angle of 7 degrees and a honed cutting edge style, this insert delivers clean surface finishes in ferrous and exotic alloy machining operations. It carries the KCM25 grade designation and is sold in multiples of 5 units.

This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is a screw-on style insert intended for use in compatible CCMT toolholders. The positive rake geometry and LF chip breaker make it appropriate for light to moderate material removal on difficult-to-machine alloys where tool life and surface finish are the primary concerns. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for insert geometry and tolerancing, falling under tolerance code M and clearance code C.

Key Features

  • KCM25 grade carbide with multilayer CVD coating: TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 for wear resistance in steel and superalloy cutting
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with CCMT geometry for versatile turning, facing, and boring
  • LF chip breaker optimized for light finishing passes with controlled chip formation
  • Positive rake angle of 5 degrees reduces cutting forces on difficult workpiece materials
  • Honed cutting edge style for improved edge integrity on precision finishing cuts
  • Screw-on insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating in the toolholder

Compatibility

Designed for use in CCMT-compatible screw-on turning toolholders. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and S correspond to steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. Material grades C1 and C2 apply. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert geometry standards.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw and do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Ensure the insert seat and pocket are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert.
