Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3758081 is a VNMG332UP solid carbide turning insert finished with a multilayer MTCVD TiCN and Al2O3 coating in the KCM15 grade. It carries a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The neutral-hand insert features honed cutting edges and a UP chip breaker geometry optimized for roughing and medium machining operations. With four usable cutting edges and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods, it delivers consistent performance across a range of turning applications handled by machinists and CNC turning specialists.

This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on CNC and manual lathes. Its KCM15 grade targets steel and stainless steel as primary workpiece materials, offering moderate wear resistance combined with toughness for steel and a range from high to moderate wear resistance for stainless steel. Superalloys and titanium are listed as secondary workpiece material applications. It conforms to ANSI insert code VNMG332 and ISO insert code VNMG160408, fitting standard KENLOC-series toolholders.

Key Features

  • KCM15 grade with multilayer CVD TiCN and Al2O3 coating for steel and stainless steel cutting
  • 35-degree diamond (V) insert shape with negative rake and negative side clearance for rigid setups
  • UP chip breaker geometry suited for roughing and medium machining passes
  • Four cutting edges with honed edge style for consistent tool life
  • Clamp and pin holding compatibility for secure insert retention
  • Meets ANSI and ISO dimensional standards (VNMG332 and VNMG160408)

Compatibility

Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting VNMG-style inserts with ANSI code VNMG332 and ISO code VNMG160408. Suitable for steel (P), stainless steel (M), and superalloys and titanium (S) workpiece materials per grade classification.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Disengage the machine spindle and confirm the turret is fully indexed and locked before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp or pin to prevent seating errors and edge chipping. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
