The KENNAMETAL 3755686 is a CNMG-style turning insert in the KENLOC series, featuring a KCM15 grade solid carbide substrate with a multilayer MTCVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating. Designed for negative rake cutting geometry, it delivers a chamfered and honed cutting edge suited for demanding material removal applications. The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.5077 inches) in length with a 1/2-inch (0.5000-inch) inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch insert thickness, and a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) corner radius. It carries four usable cutting edges and is held by clamp and pin in compatible toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators use this insert for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium turning operations.
The 3755686 is applied in turning, facing, and boring operations across CNC lathes and turning centers in production and job-shop environments. Its primary workpiece material designations cover P (steel), M (stainless steel), and S (superalloys and titanium), with a secondary application in S-class materials. The MP chip breaker geometry is intended for medium-pass interrupted and continuous cuts where reliable chip control is critical. The insert meets ANSI and ISO standards and carries the industry standard number CNMG433MP, making it cross-referenceable within compatible CNMG toolholder systems.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CNMG 433 toolholders using clamp and pin retention in the KENLOC series. Compatible with toolholder systems accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle CNMG insert with a 0.2031-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp to ensure proper support and prevent edge breakage. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear, chips, or debris before installing a fresh insert, as pocket damage transfers directly to insert performance and edge life.
