The KENNAMETAL 3755528 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the industry standard designation WPMT2151LF with manufacturer grade KCK20. This W-style trigon insert features an 80-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry with a 5-degree rake angle, and a honed cutting edge style. The PVD-applied multilayer AlTiN and AlCrN coating delivers high wear resistance across steel and cast iron workpiece materials. With three usable cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, this insert is designed for finishing and light machining operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in both steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) applications where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for light depth-of-cut passes, making it appropriate for finishing passes on components where tool pressure and heat generation must be minimized. It performs in applications demanding high wear resistance, particularly on harder steel grades and close-tolerance cast iron bores or faces.
Conforms to ANSI insert code WPMT2151 and ISO insert code WPMT110204. Designed for use in screw-on style WPMT toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle W-trigon insert. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw thread specification before installation.
Insert seating and torque should follow the toolholder manufacturer's specifications for WPMT screw-on style pockets. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key supplied by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid stripping the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface and screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
