The KENNAMETAL 3754345 is a CCMT3252MF-style solid carbide turning insert in the KCP30 grade, designed for precision metal removal in turning, facing, and boring operations. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous cuts in steel. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches, it suits light-to-moderate finishing and semi-finishing work. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers select this geometry for its positive rake and predictable chip formation through the MF chip breaker.
This insert is intended primarily for machining steel workpieces (ISO material group P) and is suited for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. The screw-on holding method provides secure clamping in compatible toolholders. Its two cutting edges allow the insert to be indexed, extending usable service life. Applications include external turning, facing passes, and boring where controlled chip evacuation and surface finish consistency are priorities.
Designed as a screw-on replacement turning insert for CCMT-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible with toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO CCMT3252 standards. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under uneven clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and screw thread for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
